The cake I ordered was for my mother's birthday.  For over 20  years I have been on a quest to find the perfect gift for my mother, and thanks  to you, I finally did it!  Since my mother is actually from Winnipeg, I am  delighted that I found out about you before she did, and was able to surprise her with one of your sumptuous cakes.  I heard about Lilyfield Cakes on CBC radio a couple of years ago.  I purchased a cake for a friend in another city, but had never seen the product before.  Your website does a marvellous job of marketing your product and I was sure Mom would think it was  fabulous since she appreciates quality and enjoys fine things, but I could not  have dreamed of a better reaction.  She was thrilled with the gorgeous hat box, but once she oo'd and ah'd her way through the flowers and charm bracelet to the French chocolate cake, she was speechless!  She said that she felt  truly pampered and utterly surprised.  Furthermore, everyone thought the cake really was to die for!  I am one of those odd people who don't like chocolate, but even I was obsessed with the decadent French chocolate cake! Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous! Your cake was the talk of the after dinner evening! Susan was amazed and very impressed at the whole presentation. And she kept saying over and over how great it is that Lilyfield is from Winnipeg. And she remembered having heard of you a while back, but couldn't remember from where. We took our 13 and 17 year old girls out to a favorite French restaurant ( http://www.bistropastis.com/index.cfm) which in fact Susan had designed 8 years ago. If you come out here give us a call and we'll take you there! Susan would love to meet you. Then we went to her father's house to share the cake surprise with him. He's almost 90 years old and loved the cake.

My 17 year old daughter, who desperately wanted everything to go right last night, was really stressing over the fact that I had ordered the cake without consulting her, and how can you send a cake by courier, and what kind of birthday cake has NO ICING, and I had better make one ready to apply to this dry cake. So,to placate her, I ran out and bought some whipping cream which we whipped up with a little vanilla and sugar. Once she saw her Mom's amazed reaction and tasted the cake I was a hero. And I know all of us will remember for decades the anticipation and excitement of opening the box. My daughter will discover that sometimes the seemingly smallest events in life can become the most memorable. And, of course, I have lots of pictures of the night to store in the beautiful Larrabee box.

Dear Heather,

I recently ordered the "Gracie Girl" selection for my Mum's 70th birthday and I just had to write and let you know how absolutely fabulous it was. I was tracking it all day on the delivery company's website. Finally, in mid-afternoon, I called Mum and asked if it had arrived yet?? She said it had just arrived and she was unpacking it. So over the phone, I could hear all the ooooh's and aaaah's as she unpacked each layer of wrapping. Then the exclamations of surprise and delight when she saw the top of the hatbox......and the magnolias. Well, the ooohing and aaahing over the gorgeous hatbox went on for minutes.......and finally, I told her to open the box.......because there's more inside.

Mum was just speechless when she saw the fresh orchids....and the charm bracelet.......and then the cake (exotic coconut)! She was overwhelmed. She loved it! So I told her to make herself a cup of tea and have a piece of cake and then call me back to let me know how she enjoyed it. She called back and said it was the most delicious cake.......she was over the moon with the whole gift.

She came out to my house the next day and brought everything for me to see and I must say that if you think the hatboxes look beautiful on the website pictures........they are even more beautiful in real life. The hatbox is larger than it seems in the pictures and of course, the charm and bracelet are exquisite. And the cake........well, it was divine to say the least!!

When the package that the we ordered from Lilyfield Cakes arrived at the EDGE offices (purely for testing purposes, of course), we thought it was a mistake. After all, we ordered a simple cake, and here was this gorgeous hatbox with silk flowers on top. When we opened it, it got even better- not only was there the most delicious, pure cake inside, but it was topped with fresh flowers (a nosegay, nonetheless!). We were speechless! (And believe me, that doesn?t happen often...)
